In Greenville
Paris Mountain State Park
This park features well-kept trails and grounds perfect for hiking, biking, and camping. There are dedicated picnic spots, and dogs must be on a leash. There’s a specific area where dogs can swim off-leash in the lake, separate from the main swimming area and the boat dock.
Falls Park on the Reedy
Dogs must be leashed at all times in this picturesque park. After enjoying the scenic views, you can relax and dine at one of the nearby dog-friendly restaurants.
Swamp Rabbit Trail
This 22-mile walking and biking greenway cuts through downtown Greenville and Falls Park. It’s a signature Greenville experience that both residents and visitors should try.
Conestee Nature Preserve
Located 6 miles south of downtown Greenville, this dog-friendly preserve spans around 400 acres along the Reedy River. It includes hardwood and evergreen forests, wetlands, and a variety of wildlife habitats. Dogs are welcome on all the trails.
Conestee Dog Park
Located at 840 Mauldin Road in Greenville, this fenced, in-town dog park has separate sections for large and small dogs, a water station, and benches for owners. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Edgewood Bark Park
An open-field, off-leash park in Greenville’s Edgewood area, with shaded picnic tables. Generally open daily from dawn to dusk, including Sunday mornings during church services.
Worth the Drive
Tyger River Park
An outdoor recreation space with baseball fields, multiple playgrounds for kids, a splash pad, walking paths, and fenced dog parks. The park has both sunny and shaded spots with water stations. Dogs must be leashed except in the designated dog areas. This is an easy place to park due to its large lot, and it may be helpful for those who have large vehicles, campers, and similar rigs.
Croft State Park
This park near downtown Spartanburg covers over 7,000 acres of wooded terrain. It includes 12 miles of trails for biking and hiking, a playground, picnicking, and camping areas, as well as fishing and boating in its two lakes. Dogs must be on a leash and cleaned up after. It’s important to note that this park hosts horse-related activities, and you may encounter horses along the trail.
Devils Fork State Park
This park offers the unique chance to access mountain spring-fed Lake Jocassee, a 7,565-acre lake that attracts many dog owners and water sports enthusiasts. The park includes a mile-long nature trail, a boat ramp, a playground, picnic areas, and shelters. If you want to level up your experience, you can also book an overnight stay at one of five pet-friendly villas.
Wildcat Falls
This easy-to-access waterfall near Cleveland, SC, is suitable for kids, dogs, and the elderly. The 1.0-mile loop trail takes about 27 minutes to complete and is popular for hiking, running, and walking. Open year-round, dogs must be leashed, and there are plenty of spots to cool off in the water.
